About the Event
A brand new fan convention for Sault Ste Marie
Three days of fun, friendship, and all things geek!
Tabletop and video gaming, panels, guests, vendors, costume contest, so much more!
We run a number of fan conventions, including Avalon Expo in St. John’s, Atlanticon in Corner Brook and Sydney Comic Con in Sydney, Nova Scotia. We only start them in places we feel there’s room for them, without disrupting things. We seek to add to and build the community, with the community.

Kaviimi
Kaviimi is a cosplayer, drag queen and artist from Thunder Bay Ontario. Over the last 6 years they have been honing their craft and broadening their horizons, always excited to try new things. Kaviimi‘s specialty lies in their wig-making and makeup skills. Recently Kaviimi has started live streaming, hosting local events, and guesting at conventions. Kaviimi‘s focus has always been to create a safe space for people to be creative in their own unique ways. What started as a form of escapism, slowly became their way of life and this is reflected in the art that they create.
Kaviimi will be around the con all weekend, guest judging the costume contest, and also has a panel planned:
Cosplay Basics For Fostering Confidence
In this panel I will speak on building oneself a basic cosplay skillset as well as, gaining confidence through the obstacles that cosplay presents to us. I hope that this panel will not only be informative to new cosplayers but also inspiring for those who have more experience. I would like to have an interactive section of this panel as well. Each attendee will be asked to write down one cosplay goal that they want to achieve as well as the steps they can take to achieve it. They will then share it with the person next to them. At the end I will have a short q&a.
